Oxford Central Library is one of the busiest libraries in the UK with over 200,000 items available for loan. The library was scheduled for refurbishment works as part of the redevelopment of the adjacent Westgate Shopping Centre. Proposals included relocating the entrance and redesigning the interior to provide an improved facility. As with the larger Westgate redevelopment, timescales have been revised for this refurbishment however an enhanced Oxford municipal library remains an aim of the West End Partnership.
