ALBION PLACE SOCIAL HOUSING
Abbey Place, a 14-unit Oxford City Council owned flat development adjoining Abbey Place car park, was demolished in 2008 as part of the preparatory work for the Westgate regeneration. In order to re-house displaced council tenants and shared ownership residents, new accommodation was built on a council owned site at Albion Place. Construction of these flats was completed in September 2008.
The flats were designed around the specific needs of the tenants and constructed to EcoHomes 'Excellent' standards, thus minimising energy use. Features include a biomass heating system, highly insulated infill between the timber frame and external cladding, double-glazed timber windows and low-energy rated white goods.
